Manufactured by Pfizer,
Viagra was the first drug for the treatment of erectile dysfunction.
Most men buy Viagra as it is very popular and has been around since
1998. Viagra was one of a kind when it came to the market. Viagra not
only treats erectile dysfunction but also varying degrees of erection
problems. However there are many more medicines now available online
which help considerably to treat erectile dysfunction. Viagra is still
the most widely used medication for impotence despite the launch of
Uprima, Cialis and Levitra. |

How does Viagra get to work?
Erectile Dysfunction is often a physical problem. Viagra treats
erectile dysfunction by increasing the blood flow to the penis. With
Viagra you must be sexually excited to get an erection. If you take
Viagra when you are not aroused nothing will happen. You will not get
an erection just by taking Viagra.
When a man is sexually excited following sequences would take place:
- The arteries in the penis relax and widen (this allows more blood to
flow into the penis).
- The increased blood flow causes the penis to become hard and erect.
- The veins that normally carry blood away from the penis get
compressed (this restricts the blood flow out of the penis).
- More blood begins flowing in and less flows out, making the penis
larger; this causes an erection.
For most men the nerves or blood flow plays its part to work this
process properly. For others this might not be the case.
Viagra Dosage
There are three potential dosages of Viagra: 25mg, 50mg and 100mg. The
dosage may have to be adjusted by your physician should the desired
effect not be achieved.
As with all medication you should follow the advice of your physician
and consult him if you have any questions or concerns, it is normal to
start at the lowest dose to check for effectiveness. Viagra should be
taken once a day, with or without meals, as required. Do not reduce or
increase the prescribed dosage.
Can I drink alcohol alongside Viagra?
It is not advisable to drink high amounts of alcohol before taking
Viagra, and the chances are Viagra will not work if you do this.
Do certain foods effect the use of Viagra?
Eating fatty foods can cause a delay in the effects of Viagra on
erectile dysfunction.
Are there any side effects with Viagra?
Side effects such as headaches, facial flushing and an upset stomach
can occur, though these are most likely with higher doses of Viagra.
Usually mild, these side effects do not last longer than a few hours.
There is also the possibility of bluish or blurred vision or
sensitivity to light. Should an erection last longer than four hours
get medical assistance.
